Sacred Square - tourist attraction - venues for exhibitions - conferences - concerts
The construction of the synagogue began in August 1893 and the walls were up in just one month - the Orthodox community of Debrecen already welcomed the autumn holidays here.
It was officially inaugurated in 1902, its first chief rabbi was Salamon Strasszer. Some institutions of the local Orthodox community operated together with the status quo religious community, but soon the Orthodox complex on Pásti Street was expanded with new members: Beit Hamindras was the scene of learning and prayer, an Orthodox mikveh was in the basement, a kosher butcher shop and a shop opened in the courtyard.
The community did not have the strength to renovate the building damaged in the war, but only to preserve its condition, but the church continued to function until 1984. Its last orthodox rabbi was Sándor Deutsch. In 2001, the facade and the roof structure were renewed with a partial renovation, but the full restoration could only begin in 2012. On April 26, 2015, the orthodox synagogue in Pásti Street was reopened in its full beauty.
