The "Csonkatemplom" of the people of Debrecen was left without a tower helmet.
The 1,600-seat Reformed stone church was started with a donation from a citizen of Debrecen, András Báthory Szabó. As part of this, it was crowned with a copper globe in 1726, but barely a year later it suffered serious damage and was restored only four years later.
Its tower was originally covered by an onion-shaped tower helmet, which was damaged by a storm in 1907, and finally, after the repair work was completed, it was completely knocked down by a windstorm. Complying with the will of nature, the architects gave the tower a bastion-like structure without a dome, which later became known as the "Truncate Tower".
